Cala Calí

ENGLISH > Monuments

The other monument that is located in Cala Calí unfortunately suffers from the same confusion and is also not found on the equatorial line.

If tourists wish to visit the true equatorial line in Cala Calí, we recommend visiting the Central Plaza of town where the equatorial line passes about 10 meters to the south of the Pileta de la Plaza de Cala Calí. This stone basin of colonial origin belonged to the convent of the Franciscans of the Church of San Francisco of the city of Quito. The most interesting thing is found when the tourist concentrates on the stones of the basin. He or she will be able to observe the imprinted tracks of the clay pots the indigenous water-carriers used to carry water to homes.
