The Coriolis Effect, the effect that causes a vortex to form as a sink drains, occurs due to the rotation of the Earth. In the north the effect turns clockwise, and in the south counter-clockwise. To do this experiment, we would need to be very far from the equatorial line: about 100 kilometers to the south and the same distance to the north. We would need containers that were perfectly round and water that had been kept static for three to four weeks, according to the calculation of inertia for water in a container with a capacity of about 20 liters. In completing these requirements, we would confirm that the Coriolis Effect does indeed function. However, in short distances, for example 5 meters from the Equator, these effects cannot be confirmed because the Coriolis Effect is too weak to be tested. Further, many places that try to perform these supposed experiments are not even found on the equatorial line.
